CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Robin Swoboda is leaving WKYC Channel 3 when her three-year contract expires at the end of the month. Her last day on the air with the Gannett-owned Cleveland station will be Feb.
The departure date was confirmed Tuesday by Swoboda and Brooke Spectorksy, Channel 3's president and general manager.
"Her contract is indeed up at the end of February, and there are no plans to extend it," Spectorsky said. "We have talked to her about staying on for a while, but she chose not to. She decided it was time to move on."
Swoboda also described the parting as amicable.
"They asked me about doing others things, but they really didn't have a platform that fit me," Swoboda said from her home in Medina. "I tried to do the straight news-anchor thing, but I just came to the realization that it wasn't a good fit for me. I guess I'm still trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up."
Swoboda jumped from Cleveland Fox affiliate WJW Channel 8 to join NBC affiliate Channel 3 in March She and reporter Chris Tye were teamed as co-anchors of the 7 p.m. newscast.
