Dominic Cardy is a strong leader and passionate New Brunswicker with decades of experience in grassroots organization and political party-building. The 2010 NB NDP Campaign Director and a life-long New Democrat, Dominic will bring our values and our party into the Legislature to build a strong future for New Brunswick.
Dominic grew up in Fredericton where he got involved in politics at an early age by starting a peace group at Fredericton High School in 1984.
As a student at Dalhousie University, where he obtained a political science degree, Dominic was elected President of the Nova Scotia NDP Youth Wing. He then worked as the assistant to the NS NDP’s Chief Executive and as an assistant for a Cape Breton Member of Parliament. He worked on and ran several election campaigns including now-Premier Darrell Dexter’s first election win, to Dartmouth City Council. Dominic also managed the campaign that defeated federal cabinet minister David Dingwall, which saw the NDP vote increase from five percent to 41% in the constituency.
In 2000 Dominic worked in Ottawa for the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, developing and managing a series of public events in support of the international campaign to ban land mines. He co-founded NDProgress, a group dedicated
